Dear Editor: Where art thou Sts. Thomas Aquinas and Thomas More? Thomases, did you ever think that hundreds of years after your deaths that you would be mocked in conversation among presidential campaign staffers of Ms. Clinton?
Is it Aquinas or More the staffers talk about when they smear your “Thomistic ideas” and denounce your beloved Church as being “bastardized” by its leaders. (That’s their words, not mine).
Indeed, the recipient of such a mocking note, Jennifer Palmieri (a Clinton top staffer and a Catholic) could only respond by agreeing with the writer. Would either of you consider her a defender of the Faith or an employee of an organization bent on fomenting “revolution in the Church”?
Thomases, do you think I exaggerate the phrase, ”revolution in the Church”? Well, there is another conversation between a Sandy Newman (founder of Voices of Progress, but not of our Faith) and the chairman of Clinton’s campaign for presidency, John Podesta.
Mr. Newman “muses” to Mr. Podesta (a Catholic) that “there needs to be a Catholic Spring, in which Catholics themselves demand the end of Middle Ages dictatorship … in the Catholic Church.”
What is the response of Podesta – rest easy Sandy for I and my progressive pals have already created organizations explicitly designed to infiltrate the Catholic Church with progressive ideology. “We created Catholics in Alliance for the Common Good to organize for a moment like this. … Likewise,Catholics United.”
Thomases, do you think I’m still exaggerating all this? Well, did we ever think we’d see the Little Sisters of the Poor before the Supreme Court for their beliefs?
Of course all this info is from “hacked e-mails” ostensibly hacked by the Russians. No firm denials of their existence by senders and/or receivers though. Oh, too futuristic for your Middle Ages minds? That’s a conversation for another time.
So Thomases, how would your brilliant minds help us today?
Do we vote for an egotistical, foul-mouthed narcissist or the other person who is a perpetual liar whose close campaign staffers endorse the idea of fomenting a “revolution in our Church”?
THOMAS SULLIVAN
