Father Carmen La Mazza, M.M., who was born in Jersey City, N.J., and raised in Brooklyn, died March 24 in El Camino Hospital, Mountain View, Calif. He was 88 and a Maryknoll priest for 60 years.
He attended P.S. 176 in Brooklyn; Brooklyn High School for Specialty Trades, and Stuyvesant H.S., Manhattan, before entering Maryknoll in 1945.
After ordination on June 11, 1955, he was assigned to Maryknoll’s Development Department in St. Louis and then in Manhattan. In 1957, he began 20 years of ministry in Peru.
In 1977, Father La Mazza was reassigned to the Maryknoll Development Department.
