The Michael Gordon Foundation’s scholarships were recently awarded to nine students at St. Edmund Preparatory H.S., Homecrest. Thomas Tillander, president of the foundation, and John Tillander, treasurer, recently visited the school to present the scholars with their award certificates.
Award winners are: Jessica Boland, Nicholas Brown, Jonathan Browne, Gabrielle DeJesus, Francheska Ferdman, Rosanna Graziuso, Cheyenne Langhirt, Shannon Monahan, and Natasha Smith.
The late Michael Gordon was born in Budapest, Hungary, and studied the art of handbag making in France. He moved to the United States and eventually became world-famous for his designer handbags. In 1991, he established the Michael Gordon Foundation, Inc., to help children in the areas of education, health and welfare. Gordon died in 1998 but his work lives on through his foundation.
