Twelve members of the Class of 1954 from Our Lady of Consolation School and St. Vincent de Paul School, both Williamsburg, celebrated their 60th anniversary during a luncheon at Karczma Restaurant, Greenpoint. Graduates came from Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Long Island and Queens. About 40 classmates have kept in contact and gathered for 50th and 55th reunions through the years. A belated Tip of the Tablet TALK Top Hat to everyone who worked hard to make the international food festival at St. Matthias, Ridgewood, a great success. Not only was a wonderful time had by all, a total of $2,349.74 was raised and donated to the parish. That donation was also followed up with a $100 gift from the Holy Spirit Group and a $200 donation from the Grupo San Lucas.
Headed to Manhattan to take in the sights and sounds of the season? Be sure to pass by Columbus Circle, near Central Park West, where the Sisters of St. Elisabeth Convent all the way from Minsk, Belarus, are selling crosses, vestments and religious items. Proceeds will benefit the Sisters’ ministry with mentally challenged. The market is open through Christmas Eve.
St. Bart School Alumni Return for 90th Anniversary
Hundreds turned out to make the 90th anniversary alumni reunion of St. Bartholomew School, Elmhurst, a huge success! During the festivities, it was announced that the school gym will be renamed “Neufeld Hall” in honor of the Neufeld family, which has been part of the parish since it was founded, and also in memory of Father Raymond Neufeld, who served the parish as pastor from 1935-46.
