One of the country’s top schools for military veterans and servicemembers is right here in Brooklyn: St. Joseph’s College (SJC). The college, which has campuses in Clinton Hill and Patochgue, L.I., was recently named to Military Advanced Education’s 2015 Guide to Colleges and Universities.
The annual guide evaluates institutions on their best practices in military and veteran education and highlights schools that go out of their way for servicemembers.
For the eighth year, more than 600 higher education institutions were evaluated based on military culture, financial aid, on-campus support, online support services and criteria recommended by the veterans’ affairs and military services.
With more than 230 military-connected students between the two campuses, SJC offers a number of degree programs with flexible course schedules. For more information, contact Shannon O’Neill, assistant dean of military and veteran services, at 631-687-2678 or smoneill@sjcny.edu.

tt-organic1Organic Puts Hope in Action

David Bisono, far left, is well known in the diocese as the co-host of NET-TV’s Too Blessed to Be Stressed and Dios Nunca Duerme, but his roots are in street ministry to youth and adults.
On Thanksgiving, he and members of his newest ministry, Organic, which is dedicated to living a life of real faith with simplicity, took to the streets to eat, pray and offer their presence among undocumented day laborers working in the cold.
