Thank You for Raising Literacy Awareness — and Congratulations!
Dear Editor: I am writing to express my sincere appreciation to The Tablet, in particular, reporter Katie Vasquez for the outstanding coverage of my reading intervention program, RTI in Academies (“Reading Support Program Helps Catholic Academy Students Build Literacy Skills,” Sunday in the City, Oct. 18).
As creator and director of RTI in Academies, I am deeply grateful for the opportunity to bring awareness to a program that is so important to me.
Having a respected publication such as The Tablet serve as a platform to share our mission and the positive impact we hope to make in children’s lives is truly meaningful.
I would also like to extend my congratulations on your recent Emmy win. Thank you again for recognizing the importance of literacy intervention and for helping us share our passion for making a difference, one reader at a time.

What a beautiful couple (“Brooklyn Couple Shares Their Faith Through Poetry,” Sunday in the City, Oct. 18)! I remember many, many years ago Marie volunteering to read to the 1st grade at Resurrection School. The children looked forward to her weekly visit! God bless this amazing couple!

Mary and Guy are my neighbors and friends(“Brooklyn Couple Shares Their Faith Through Poetry,” Sunday in the City, Oct. 18). When she reads me a poem, my day is brighter. Their love and faith is something to admire. May God continue to bless them.

So happy to see our Church advocating for (immigrants) (“Crosses and Prayers Fill Streets as Local Catholics Stand with Migrants”). So many have contributed much, especially in caring for the sick, elderly and people with disabilities. It’s time we gave them our protection.

We are thankful for all of the people who support Pope Leo XIV in his recovery (“Pope Returns for Angelus After Surgery”). May he and they be especially blessed in this time.

We went to Ireland on a tour from the Irish Coffee Pub & met 3 sisters who were “Bishops” graduates (“Bishop McDonnell Students Return to Celebrate 100 Years of Memories,” Oct. 3). They were the best. And great shoppers! Thanks to them, my husband gifted me a Claddagh ring. Hope they are well.

I was sorry to miss the gathering (“Bishop McDonnell Students Return to Celebrate 100 Years of Memories,” Oct. 3). Class of June ’55.
Went to two of the annexes and then big “Bishops.”
It provided a great education, as good if not better than many private schools. Having different orders of nuns teaching us was excellent preparation for our later careers. I shall always be grateful.
