Father Patrick Keating has been appointed president and CEO of Catholic Charities Brooklyn and Queens, effective July 1, the organization announced. He replaces Msgr. Alfred LoPinto, who is retiring after 12 years in the role.

Father Keating has held several roles at Catholic Charities Brooklyn and Queens since 2011 and currently serves as deputy CEO. In the Diocese of Brooklyn, he also serves as rector of the Co-Cathedral of St. Joseph in Prospect Heights, moderator of the curia, vicar for financial administration, general counsel, and chaplain of the Catholic Lawyers Guild for Kings Chapter.

“With trust in God’s mercy, and ever mindful of the Gospel’s call to care for others, I look forward to continuing the mission of Catholic Charities Brooklyn and Queens,” Father Keating said in a statement. “I am grateful for the generosity of our supporters, the confidence of our boards, and the dedication of our staff. I am inspired to help guide our mission to help those most in need throughout Brooklyn and Queens.”

Msgr. LoPinto assured his prayers for Father Keating and the organization.

“I will continue to pray for you, your families and the continued success of Catholic Charities in being the visible sign of Jesus’ mercy and love at work in the lives of our sisters and brothers, young and old,” Msgr. LoPinto said. “I leave with a full heart, confident that Catholic Charities Brooklyn and Queens and Affiliated Agencies are in good hands.”

Founded in 1899, Catholic Charities Brooklyn and Queens lead over 100 social service programs across the two boroughs in partnership with public agencies. Those services include providing affordable housing, as well as legal assistance and support to immigrants, tenants, and low-wage workers.
