A Bright Christmas for The Bridge to Life

Dear Editor: On behalf of everyone at The Bridge to Life, I want to extend our heartfelt gratitude for The Tablet’s generous Bright Christmas Fund donation.

Your unwavering support is truly making a difference in the lives of the moms, babies, and children who come to us in need.

Each year, we have the privilege of helping over 5,000 women and children across all five boroughs offering them not only essential material assistance but also counseling and emotional support.

The Tablet’s kindness helps provide the relief and hope that so many of these families desperately need.

The tangible impact of your gift extends beyond just the resources we provide — it lifts spirits, restores faith, and reminds those we serve that they are not alone in their struggles.

We deeply appreciate your continued partnership in our mission to support and uplift those most vulnerable.

It is because of supporters like you that we are able to provide a sense of security and comfort to families in crisis, empowering them to build brighter futures.

Thank you for being a vital part of this important work.

We are truly grateful for your generosity and compassion.

The Immigration Debate Continues

Dear Editor: Tablet reader Dominic Preziosi makes a fine point in saying that those directly responsible for the “changes Bishop [Nicholas] DiMarzio refers to” (“Walking with Migrants,” Jan.17) should be publicly identified and not given a cloak of anonymity, but there is one more name which I feel should be on Mr. Preziosi’s list: Catholic convert Vice President JD Vance.

As many of us had no reluctance to express our disapproval when Catholic President Joe Biden gave strong support to the practice of abortion, so now should we not hesitate to criticize the vice president’s speeches and actions as the president’s “attack dog” on the subject of immigration?

He acts and talks as though he somehow missed all the “brotherhood of man” and Good Samaritan catechesis given to potential converts to our religion.

An Update on Father Morty O’Shea

Dear Editor: We read with much interest the reprint of the story on Father Morty O’Shea that appeared in The Tablet’s year in review edition and “Brooklyn is Pro- Life” special section (“Priest Suffering With Myeloma Decries Bill on Assisted Suicide”) wherein Father O’Shea spoke out against the bill in New York State allowing assisted suicide.

Given that this is New York State, the bill was ultimately passed into law.

Father O’Shea is a great champion for life. While he was here in New York, he often prayed in front of abortion facilities on Saturdays and assisted at pro-life Masses.

We wanted to let your readers know that his treatments for myeloma were very successful, and he has returned to Ireland to continue his priestly ministry in County Donegal.
