Sister Eileen Stephens, C.S.J., formerly Sister Mary Cyrilla, a member of the Sisters of St. Joseph for 70 years, died on April 12 at Maria Regina Residence.
She entered the congregation from St. Patrick’s parish, Southold, in 1950. Sister Eileen earned a BBA degree in Business from St. John’s University in 1962; an MS degree in Business Education from Hunter College in 1970; and certification in Administration/Supervision from SUNY, St. John’s and Fordham University.
Her ministries included: St. Agnes, Cobble Hill (1952-1957); Ascension, Elmhurst (1957-1960); St. Rita, LIC (1960-1967); St. James, Downtown Brooklyn (1967-1969); St. Frances de Chantal, Wantagh (1969-1970); OLPH High School, Sunset Park (1970-1973); St. Francis de Sales, Belle Harbor, Principal (1973-1983); Cathedral Prep Seminary, Elmhurst (1987-1999); Sacred Heart, North Merrick (1989-2005).
A private graveside service was held in her memory before burial on April 16, in Calvary Cemetery, Brentwood.
