Sister Janice Brewi, C.S.J.

Sister Janice Brewi, C.S.J., a member of the Sisters of St. Joseph of Brentwood, for 69 years, died Feb. 12 at Maria Regina Residence in Brentwood, L.I. Sister Janice entered the congregation from Our Lady of Perpetual Help Parish in Queens in 1951. She earned a bachelor’s degree in history from St. Joseph’s College, a master’s in religious education from La Salle University and her doctorate in adult spirituality from the San Francisco Theological Seminary.

Her ministries included Our Lady of Mt. Carmel, Long Island City, 1953-58; Most Precious Blood, Long Island City, 1958-59; Immaculate Conception, Brooklyn, 1959-61; St. Michael’s, Flushing, 1961-67.

Her funeral Mass was offered on Feb. 18 at Maria Reginal Chapel. Burial followed in Calvary Cemetery, Brentwood.
