Sister Ann Marie

Sister Ann Marie Lubisic, O.P., a member of the Sisters of St. Dominic Amityville, L.I. for 63 years, died April 12. She was 83.

A graduate of St. Agnes School, Boerum Hill, she attended James Madison H.S., Brooklyn. She then worked for a year.

She met the Dominicans Sisters while on retreat  and was inspired by them. On Sept. 10, 1955, she entered the Novitiate at Amityville. One year later, she received the Dominican habit and her religious name, Sister Mary Dolorine. She pronounced final vows on Aug. 8, 1957.

She attended Molloy College, Rockville Centre, and went on for a Master of Science degree from L.I.U./C.W. Post, Greenvale, L.I.

She taught at Sacred Heart, Cambria Heights, 1957-60; Christ the King, Springfield Gardens, 1960-67; Corpus Christi, Mineola, 1967-81; St. Francis of Assisi, L.I.C., 1981-92; was a pastoral minister at Blessed Virgin Mary Help of Christians, Woodside, 1992-94; and returned to teaching at St. Margaret’s Middle Village, 1994-2001, and Notre Dame, New Hyde Park, 2001-2007.

At Notre Dame, she taught Pre-K to Kindergarten and also taught in the religious education program and was a Eucharistic minister.

A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated April 16 in St. Albert Chapel, Queen of the Rosary Motherhouse, Amityville.
