The Great Soup-er Bowl Drive at ICCA

In honor of Super Bowl Sunday, Immaculate Conception Catholic Academy’s student council in Jamaica Estates sponsored a Soup-er Bowl drive. The donations of cans of soup collected from the student body were donated to the parish food pantry. Each student that made a donation was rewarded with a paper football to color and write their name down. The art work was displayed in the school hallway. Contributors also received a free-dress down day to sport their favorite team’s jersey or T-shirt. Photo © Carl Ballenas

The theme for the seventh annual Catechetical Congress will be: So Be Bold! Continuing the World of the New Evangelization as Missionary Disciples.

Bishop Nicholas DiMarzio will be the main celebrant at the Mass. Marlon de la Torre will be the Spanish keynote speaker and Julianne Stanz will be the English keynote speaker.

The event will take place on April 6, 9 a.m. – 4 p.m., at the Immaculate Conception Center in Douglaston. The cost is $35 until March 6 and then it will be $40. Lunch is included.

Gifts For Girl Scouts in NYC Shelters

St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Academy (SFACA) of Astoria celebrated Catholic Schools Week with a special service act. Faculty members and families worked together to creat gift bags for local Girl Scout Troop 6000. Troop 6000 is a Girl Scout program especially designed to serve girls in the New York City Shelter System. Pictured is the SFACA Student Council who helped to facilitate the event.
