Brother Leonard Conway, O.S.F., a member of the Franciscan Brothers of Brooklyn for more than 50 years, and the president of St. Francis Preparatory School in Fresh Meadows, is receiving the Father Mychael Judge, O.F.M., Memorial Award.
He entered the Franciscan Brothers from Holy Name of Jesus parish in Windsor Terrace, on July 1, 1966. He later professed his first vows on Jan. 6, 1968. He taught mathematics at St. Francis Prep, then located in Williamsburg, beginning in 1971. Each summer from 1977 to 1989, he was director of Camp Alvernia, Centerport, L.I.
In 1979, he was appointed director of computer services at St. Francis Prep. He was then named principal of the Prep in 1983. He held that post for 30 years until becoming president of the school.
