The Sisters of Mercy who live in the Convent of Mercy in Whitestone recently enjoyed an afternoon of music and song.
The performers were two generous and caring musicians, Steve Zucker and Rosemary Mazzaza, who shared their talents at the invitation of Patrick Morgan, chairperson of the Dorothy Bennett Mercy Center, Fort Greene.
The reason for this special concert was to express the gratitude of the agency for the continual support the sisters have given to center since it was founded 22 years ago.
The Dorothy Bennett Mercy Center was established by the Sisters of Mercy in response to the need for an after-school program for the new immigrant children moving into the neighborhood. It has expanded its services to adult education programs in computer skills, GED preparation and as well as a senior social program.
