CYO wrapped up its fourth annual summer basketball league. The league provides girls’ and boys’ basketball players from third through eighth grade the opportunity to keep their skills sharp in preparation for the winter season. The championships rounds were held Aug. 2-3 at Msgr. McClancy H.S., East Elmhurst. The following teams won their respective titles.
Girls
Pee Wee: St. Joan of Arc, Jackson Heights
Bantam: St. Stanislaus Kostka, Maspeth
Intermediate: St. Joan of Arc
Boys
Pee Wee: St. Mary Gate of Heaven, Ozone Park
Bantam: St. Adalbert, Elmhurst
Intermediate: Resurrection Ascension, Rego Park
Tyro: St. Helen, Howard Beach
The New York Mets and the Diocese of Brooklyn will be hosting Catholic Day on Sept. 9 at Citi Field in Flushing. There will be morning Mass celebrated by Bishop Nicholas DiMarzio at the ballpark at 9:45 a.m. followed by fun, food and games. throughout the afternoon.
