Cathedral Prep and Seminary, Elmhurst, has announced three new coaches for the upcoming seasons.
Anthony Ciorciari takes over as varsity soccer coach. He played at Christ the King R.H.S., Middle Village, before attending St. John’s University, Jamaica, where he recently earned a degree in sports management.
The varsity basketball team welcomes Jim Walsh as its new head coach. The retired letter carrier and parishioner at St. Camillus-St. Virgilius, Rockaway Park, has coached basketball at all levels including Catholic Youth Organization at St. Rose of Lima, Rockaway Beach; high school at Bishop Loughlin M.H.S., Fort Greene, and Msgr. McClancy M.H.S., East Elmhurst; and as first assistant at Molloy College, Rockville Centre, L.I.
Cathedral Hall of Famer Billy Oettinger, ’80, returns to his post as varsity baseball coach, hoping to repeat his success in leading the Crusaders to the city championship in 2003 and 2007.
So excited my former Coach Walsh is heading up Cathedral Prep. They can look forward to great wins. Congratulations Coach, we miss you already!
