One hundred and twenty-eight golfers participated in the 18th annual Bishops’ Golf Classic conducted by the DeSales Media Group for the benefit of Catholic Migration Services. The event was held Aug. 8 at North Hills Country Club in Manhasset, L.I. Special celebrity golfers included Bud Harrelson, former shortstop and manager of the New York Mets, and Gil Hodges Jr., son of the late Dodgers’ and Mets’ great.
The Bishops’ Golf Classic honored Bishop Nicholas DiMarzio and Peter Meyer, N.Y.C. Market President, TD Bank. Earlier in the week, Bishop DiMarzio marked the 10th anniversary of his appointment as Bishop of Brooklyn. At left, Art Dignam, CEO of DeSales Media, makes the presentation to Meyer, and Msgr. Kieran Harrington, vicar for communications, does the honors for Bishop DiMarzio. TD Bank served as the major sponsor for the event.

Daily News Publishing Solutions; Gerner, Kronick and Valcarcel, Architects; GPJ O’Donoghue Contracting; and SaveMore Digital Printing. It also was announced that next year’s event and subsequent outings will be named the Bishop DiMarzio Golf Classic.
