Xavier Hockey Captures League Crown

The Xavier H.S., Manhattan, varsity hockey team won its second-straight CHSHL ‘B’ division championship.

The Knights earned 6-2 and 4-2 wins over St. Francis Prep, Fresh Meadows, to sweep the best of three series.

IMG_8703Xavier is known as a rival to many of the Catholic high school teams in Brooklyn and Queens, but it turns out the majority of the Knights’ hockey players come from the diocese, 17 out of the 25 on the roster to be exact.

Below are the players and their respective parish:

Seniors – 

Tyler D’Agostino (Captain) – St. Ephrem, Dyker Heights

Nicholas Guttilla – St. Frances Cabrini, Bensonhurst

David Kelly (Captain) – Our Lady of Angels, Bay Ridge

Daniel Moran (Captain) – Our Lady of Angels

Ryan Monahan – St. Columba, Marine Park

Juniors – 

George Clark – St. Francis de Sales, Belle Harbor

Matt Erhard – St. Francis de Sales

Noah Nicholson – St. Francis de Sales

Matthew O’Malley – Our Lady of Angels

Brian Ostrander – St. Francis de Sales

Sophomores – 

James D’Ambrosio – St. Francis de Sales

Luke Erhard – St. Francis de Sales

Albert Kulikowski – Our Lady of Hope, Middle Village

Matthew Owen – Our Lady of Angels

Thomas Rogers – St. Rose of Lima, Rockaway Park

Freshmen – 

Hudson Abel – Sacred Heart of Jesus & Mary & St. Stephen, Carroll Gardens

Peter Gurl – Immaculate Heart of Mary, Windsor Terrace

The team is coached by Al Dimauro from St. Bernadette, Dyker Heights.

    Just a small correction in regards to Albert Kulikowski’s parish which is Our Lady of Hope in Middle Village not the one listed above.
