Mother Teresa was no stranger to Brooklyn, who made several visits to the borough where she established convents for her Missionaries of Charity in Bushwick and Bedford-Stuyvesant.

The religious brothers of the diocese were honored along with women religious at a jubilee celebration May 22 at Immaculate Conception Center, Douglaston. They were guests of honor at a liturgy celebrated by Bishop Nicholas DiMarzio and at the dinner that followed.

Sister Mary Ruth Hill, C.S.J.

Sister Mary Ruth Hill, C.S.J., a Sister of St. Joseph, Brentwood, L.I., for 79 years, died in Bishop Kearney Convent, Feb. 29.

Block 1 Parishes Have Exceeded Their Goals

Exciting news continues to stream in from Block 1 parishes as they begin the final phase of their campaigns for Generations of Faith. As of this past week, these parishes have exceeded their total goal of $28 million, and 26 have met their goals with four weeks remaining.

Cursillistas to Hold Diocesan Ultreya

The Spanish Cursillo movement will conduct its next diocesan Ultreya at St. Martin of Tours Church, Bushwick, Nov. 13. The event will include a Mass celebrated by Auxiliary Bishop James Massa.
