Longtime NBA referee Dick Bavetta, a native of Park Slope, announced his retirement Aug. 19 and retires with the most games officiated at 2,635.

Saviour AD Hangs Up Sneakers After 13 Years

After 13 years, St. Saviour H.S. athletic director Bob Atanasio will be retiring, and he’ll always have fond memories of his time at the Park Slope school.

Alumnae Hoops Challenge at Saviour

St. Saviour H.S., Park Slope, held an alumnae basketball challenge on Jan. 31 to welcome back 70 alumnae and friends. It was the school’s first alumnae basketball gathering since the 1970s. The 20 ladies who played in the game (1990s vs. 2000s) reminisced about their days playing for the Pandas.

Christmas Wishes Extend Beyond Bars

The social justice ministries of St. Augustine’s Church, Park Slope, provides services to children whose fathers are incarcerated, and services to parents, including parenting classes and advocacy and assistance with family relationships. Every year, program volunteers, like those pictured, write out Christmas cards to men who are incarcerated.

New Leadership at Bishop Ford
