Retreat Marks Beginning of Bishop’s Devotion to Vocations in Brooklyn

On Saturday, March 5, Bishop Robert Brennan returned to the campus of his seminary days, the Seminary of the Immaculate Conception in Huntington, New York, for his first Bishop’s Vocation Retreat since he was installed as Bishop of Brooklyn last November. Located on the north shore of Long Island, it is now a retreat and conference center in the Diocese of Rockville Centre.

U.S. Catholic Church to Observe National Vocation Awareness Week Nov. 7-13

Bishop James F. Checchio of Metuchen, New Jersey, chairman of the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops’ Committee on Clergy, Consecrated Life and Vocations, is encouraging dioceses to use National Vocation Awareness Week, Nov. 7-13, as a time to foster vocations in their local faith communities.

Fifth-Graders Dial Up Tough Questions for Priest

CTN — the educational media service department of DeSales Media Group, which is The Tablet’s parent company — started “Dial-a-priest” during the year of vocations called by Bishop Nicholas DiMarzio two years ago. The idea is to give students in the Diocese of Brooklyn a chance to meet more priests beyond those in their parish and hear a variety of vocation stories.
