For the first time, the GCHSAA has released diocesan girls’ varsity All-League teams for its fall sports seasons. Congratulations to the following student-athletes for earning the historic honor:

As part of its annual winter tradition, Msgr. McClancy H.S. hosted the 37th Brother Arnold Memorial Basketball Tournament Dec. 7-8. It was quite the successful weekend for the host Crusaders.

The Cristo Rey Brooklyn H.S., Flatbush, girls’ varsity basketball team served up more than assists on Thanksgiving morning.

Local Baseball Coaches Receive Sandlot Awards

St. Francis Prep varsity baseball coach Brother Robert Kent and Xaverian varsity baseball coach Frank Del George received outstanding coaching honors from the Greater New York Sandlot Athletic Alliance.

TMLA Hoops All-Americans Team Up at Notre Dame

Former stars Danielle Patterson and Jordan Nixon from The Mary Louis Academy are back together again on the court for the University of Notre Dame. Both were All-Americans in high school.

The St. Francis College, Brooklyn Heights, men’s water polo team finished third at this year’s Northeast Water Polo Conference championship tournament.

Trainer Gives All Athletes ‘Power’ to Change Lives

Since a young age, Rebecca Power has had a passion for sports and fitness. She’s now a certified personal trainer of all athletes, including those who have physical and developmental disabilities.

Sports Round-Up Nov. 24

The Msgr. McClancy H.S., East Elmhurst, girls’ varsity and junior varsity basketball teams continued their tradition of attending Mass together on Nov. 11 at Corpus Christi Church, Woodside.

McClancy Grad Named Cubs Hitting Coach

Msgr. McClancy H.S. graduate Anthony Iapoce was recently named the hitting coach of the Chicago Cubs. The 45-year-old spent the past three seasons as the hitting coach for the Texas Rangers.
