With the flip of a switch, the Diocese of Brooklyn’s official Christmas tree came to life on Wednesday, Dec. 14, with 16,000 twinkling lights shining brightly against the evening sky.
Bishop Robert Brennan will join DeSales Media Group at the official Diocesan Christmas Tree Lighting ceremony and blessing of the Nativity Scene in front of the Soldiers and Sailors Memorial Arch at Grand Army Plaza in Brooklyn.
Bishop Nicholas DiMarzio, joined by New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio, on Tuesday, Dec. 8, unveiled the sculpture, “Angels Unawares,” at the Soldiers and Sailors Arch in Brooklyn’s Grand Army Plaza. The annual lighting of the plaza’s Christmas tree followed the unveiling.
Tonight at 5 pm, parishioners of the Brooklyn Diocese will gather together at Grand Army Plaza to usher in the Advent season and remember the world’s persecuted faithful with the lighting of the diocesan Christmas tree.
