Seven, Robed in White, Answer the Call to Serve

Seven young disciples of Christ joined the ranks of altar servers at St. Teresa, Woodside. They are Adrian Carabajo, Brian Carrasco, Thomas Mayi, Mariana Pinanez, Mariela Pinanez, Ryan Saldana and Keyli Sanchez. Msgr. Steven Ferrari, pastor, installed the youth into their new ministry during Sunday Mass with the aide of Deacon Martin Soraire. Seven veteran altar servers were also on hand to welcome and support the newcomers. The parish credits youth minister Evelyn Munoz for encouraging her charges.


St. Gregory Theatre Group, Bellerose, presents “Sister Act” – the feel-good musical comedy smash based on the hit 1992 film that has audiences jumping to their feet!

The play will be presented in the Oak Room of St. Gregory Church, Bellerose, Aug. 9, 10, 11, 15, 16, 17 and 18 at 8 p.m. and on Aug. 12 and 19 at 2 p.m.

A free workshop for anyone who may be a family caregiver or who wants to know more about family caregiving will take place on Aug. 5 after 10 a.m. Mass at Sacred Hearts-St. Stephen Church in Carroll Gardens. Marriage Encounter Weekends are a special time for a married couples away from all distractions: work, kids, bills, and other pressures and concerns. When was the last time you had a weekend like that?

The weekend will consist of presentations that allow couples to examine their behaviors and attitudes, their relationship with their spouse and with God in order to deepen their intimacy and connectedness.

Even if you are a couple of mixed faiths, you are welcome to experience the Encounter.

Helpers of God’s Precious Infants will hold their next monthly pro-life prayer vigil on Aug. 25 with Auxiliary Bishop Raymond Chappetto. Mass will begin at 7:30 a.m. in Our Lady of the Cenacle, Richmond Hill. Followed by exposition, procession to a nearby abortuary and return to church for benediction.
