On Sunday, June 22, Father Andrzej Wojciech Klocek, pastor of St. Josaphat’s parish, Bayside, celebrated a Mass of thanksgiving on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of his ordination to the priesthood. Father Klocek, above, stands at the altar with Father James Meszaros. Born in Wloclawek, Poland, Father Klocek came to the Diocese of Brooklyn in 2004. All are welcome to join the good people of Holy Name of Jesus Church, Park Slope, for a bilingual Healing Mass on Wednesday, July 9. Arrive by 6:30 p.m. to pray the Rosary. Our Lady of the Angelus Church, Rego Park, is organizing a one-day pilgrimage on July 26 to the Shrine of Our Lady of Lourdes in Emmitsburg, Md. Bus departs from the church at 7:30 a.m. sharp. The cost of the bus is $45 for adults and $22.50 for children. For reservations or more details, call Barbara Johnson at 718-592-9329.

 

This fall, St. Bernard parish, Mill Basin, will celebrate two milestones. The parish school will celebrate 50 years of educating local children, and the church building will mark its 25th anniversary in the community. In honor of these events, the parish is planning a special Mass on Sunday, Sept. 21 at 11:30 a.m. A reception will follow in the parish hall. Past and present students and parishioners are welcome. Our Lady Queen of Martyrs parish, Forest Hills, will hold its annual Novena to St. John Vianney, July 27 to Aug. 4 – the official feast day of this patron saint of parish priests. The novena will be prayed after 11:30 a.m. Mass on Sundays and after the 12:05 p.m. daily Mass on Mondays through Saturdays.
Msgr. Edward Wetterer will preside at the Mass to open the novena on July 27 at 11:30 a.m. Newly ordained Father Jason Espinal will celebrate the 11:30 a.m. Mass on Aug. 3, near the end of the novena. He will lead the novena prayers and offer blessings to those in attendance. The novena will conclude with a sung, concelebrated Mass on Aug. 4 at 12:05 p.m. For more details, call the rectory at 718-268-6251.

 

St. Francis Catholic Singles, a contemporary circle of men and women in their 30s, 40s and 50s, who are single or single again, will host its next social at Killmeyer’s Beer Garden, Staten Island, on Saturday, July 19 at 8:15 p.m. Join the circle for a summer evening in the beer garden – rain or shine – with live entertainment from the classic rock cover band, Rotary Dials. Martin Aversa was named Knight of the Year by St. Anastasia Knights of Columbus Council No. 5911 in Douglaston this spring. He was honored at a parish Mass and Communion Breakfast. Aversa has served in the council for over 40 years. He is a former district deputy, a past grand knight and former chairman of the board of district deputies. He was honored for his dedicated service to the Church, the Knights of Columbus and the community of Douglaston and Little Neck.
