The freshman track team won the Brooklyn/Queens championship, and both freshman and varsity track teams won the cross-country Brooklyn championship.

Belle Harbor twins Therese and Jacqueline Gallagher delivered outstanding performances. Therese took home first place in the Brooklyn cross-country championship as well as in the Brooklyn/Queens championship, and Jacqueline won first place in the Brooklyn/Queens varsity 1500-meter indoor championship.

Kearney’s swim team won the ‘B’ Division Dual Meet, and the cheerleaders took first place in three competitions: the Spring Festival, the Jersey Shore Showdown and the Beast of the East championship.

Both the varsity basketball team and junior varsity softball team took home the winning trophy in the Brooklyn/Queens Division II championship, and the Boosters took second place in the large division of the Diocesan Step Competition.

Every year, outstanding athletes are presented with awards in remembrance of those who have made significant contributions to the Kearney community.

The Sister Geraldine Woods Award for Outstanding Christian Leadership in Athletics was presented to Caroline Strehle and Brigid Campbell.

The Erin Quinlan Memorial Award for Outstanding Kearney Spirit in Athletics was presented to Shannon Biscaino.

The Thomas Gannon Memorial Award for Scholarship, Athletic Ability and School Spirit was awarded to Emily Dripchak.

The Deborah Lovett Award for Courage, Dedication and Leadership was presented to Sister Rosemarie Baglivio, Gabriella Monferrato, Taylor Tobin and Amanda DiLeo.

The Ed Madden Memorial Award for Outstanding Athletic Ability was presented to the entire freshman track team under the leadership of head coach John Lovett.

The National College Athletic Association recognizes student athletes who earned an average of 90 percent or higher while participating in sports. Because Bishop Kearney has so many students in that category, only Kearney students who maintain an average of 95 percent or higher receive this award. These students include Shannon Biscaino, Jacqueline Gallagher and Joanna Sullivan.

Kearney’s athletic director Anthony Troiano and student athletic chairperson Emily Dripchak helped make this event special, especially for the seniors who will be taking their talents to many colleges and universities this fall.
