St. Saviour Catholic Academy (SSCA), Park Slope, prepares students from nursery to grade eight for higher education.

SSCA educates children from all walks of life in a nurturing and supportive Catholic environment. Beginning in the early childhood program, teachers create an exciting, developmentally appropriate curriculum encouraging the children to explore their world through hands-on activities.

The elementary grades offer a balanced curriculum of rigorous academics and a vibrant arts program paired with the spiritual teachings of Catholicism. The school community believes that education encompasses the academic, social and spiritual needs of the learner and tries its best to differentiate the instruction so that those areas can be addressed. Every individual who walks through the academy’s doors is unique so the type of instruction offered needs to replicate that.

SSCA believes that each student’s success is often dependent upon how they feel socially within a classroom. If they feel safe and comfortable in their classroom community, they will be willing to take risks and share ideas with one another. To this end, the Responsive Classroom Approach has been implemented throughout the academy. This approach centers on positive language to maximize learning and consistency among classrooms.

Our school is located in the heart of Park Slope, Brooklyn. The neighborhood is known for its historic buildings and architecture, diversity, cultural attractions, proximity to Prospect Park and convenient access to public transportation. Prospect Park is frequently utilized by the school for recreational and educational purposes.

Other area attractions and places of educational interest include: NY Methodist Hospital, The Brooklyn Academy of Music, The Brooklyn Public Library, The Brooklyn Botanic Garden, The Brooklyn Museum, Barclays Center and the shops and restaurants of nearby Seventh Avenue. Manhattan is accessible by local sub- way stations. Park Slope has so much to offer students and families.

Together with parents and guardians, the dedicated and experienced faculty helps each child develop a positive self-image in order to reach his or her highest potential.
