St. Joseph’s College Brooklyn, Clinton Hill, sophomore Grace Kane was named to the 2021 Skyline Conference Women’s Volleyball All-Sportsmanship Team. A graduate of Fontbonne Hall Academy, Bay Ridge, Kane played in all-but-one set for the Bears this season and was a full rotation player who finished second on the team in digs (198) and third in kills (106) and aces (24). The rookie opposite hitter also logged three matches with double-digit kills.
Xaverian H.S., Bay Ridge, has installed a new floor in its school gymnasium. More than 200 student-athletes were on hand as school chaplain Father Sean Suckiel blessed the Clippers’ renovated court.

Boys’ Soccer
The St. Francis Prep, Fresh Meadows, varsity team won this year’s ‘AA’ diocesan championship. In the varsity ‘A’ division, Msgr. McClancy H.S., East Elmhurst, took home the division title, while St. John’s Prep, Astoria, captured the varsity ‘A’ city championship. St. Francis Prep was also diocesan champions on the ‘AA’ junior varsity level.
Girls’ Soccer
In Tier 2, the varsity squad from St. John’s Prep won its first-ever city championship. The St. Edmund Prep H.S., Sheepshead Bay, captured the varsity city title in Tier 3. The junior varsity city championship went to Archbishop Molloy H.S., Briarwood.
Volleyball
Fontbonne Hall Academy, Bay Ridge, emerged victorious for both the Tier 1 varsity diocesan and city crowns. In varsity Tier 2, Holy Cross H.S., Flushing, made history by capturing the school’s first-ever girls’ diocesan championship, while the Cristo Rey Brooklyn H.S., Flatbush, varsity team captured the Tier 3 diocesan title. On the junior varsity level, Xaverian H.S., Bay Ridge, won its third-straight Tier 1 diocesan and city championships. In junior varsity Tier 2, Msgr. McClancy won the diocesan title and city championship after a fully undefeated season.
Tennis
Archbishop Molloy’s varsity team defeated The Mary Louis Academy, Jamaica Estates, for the diocesan tennis championship.
The St. Francis Prep varsity team, which competes in the Long Island division, won the island, city and state championship – marking the 19th time within the past 21 years that the Terriers have won a state title.
Cross-Country
At the CHSAA Intersectional Meet at Van Cortlandt Park, the St. Francis Prep girls’ varsity team finished third in the 2.5-mile race. Msgr. McClancy’s boys’ team finished second in the Varsity B race.
