The Catholic Youth Organization wrapped up another season of boys’ basketball with the following teams taking home their respective diocesan titles:

Pee-Wee

Division I: St. Kevin, Flushing

Division II: St. Helen, Howard Beach

Novice

Division I: St. Rose of Lima, Rockaway Beach

Division II: Our Lady of Lourdes, Queens Village

Bantam

Division I: St. Rose of Lima

Division II: St. Thomas Aquinas, Flatlands

Rookie

Division I: St. Adalbert, Elmhurst

Division II: Blessed Sacrament, Bayside

Intermediate

Division I: St. Bernard, Mill Basin

Division II: St. Columba, Marine Park

Cadet: St. Bernard

Junior: Our Lady of Lourdes


CHSAA President Ray Nash was inducted March 24 into the New York State Basketball Hall of Fame during a ceremony at the Glens Falls Civic Center as part of the State Federation Basketball Tournament.

Nash, president of the Diocese of Brooklyn’s Catholic sports league since 1978, was the president and long-time sports coach and athletic director at Bishop Ford H.S., Park Slope.

He played his high school basketball at St. Francis Prep, Williamsburg, and his college hoops at St. Francis College, Brooklyn Heights. In addition to his latest honor, he has been inducted into the Bishop Ford, St. Francis Prep, St. Francis College, Bishop Ford Athletic, Holy Name Foundation, Basketball Old-Timers of America and CHSAA Halls of Fame.
