>> Softball Season Wraps Up

The GCHSAA softball season ended with the Archbishop Molloy H.S., Briarwood, varsity team capturing the Tier 1 Brooklyn/ Queens championship. On the junior varsity level, Molloy finished as finalists in the Tier 1 city championship, while Msgr. McClancy H.S., East Elmhurst, took home the Tier 2 city title.

Grace Murphy, a senior student-athlete at Archbishop Molloy H.S., Briarwood, had an impressive showing at the school’s annual awards dinner.

She was named MVP for girls’ varsity soccer, MVP for girls’ cross-country, Molloy’s Cross-Country Scholar Athlete of the Year, and won the Jack Curran Award for Outstanding Female Senior Athlete of the Year.

Murphy, pictured with her mom Toni and dad Chris, will attend Marist College, Poughkeepsie, N.Y., and compete on the track and field team.

Bishop Robert Brennan attended the Brooklyn/ Queens CHSAA varsity baseball championship at St. John’s University, Jamaica.

He presented plaques to the team and posed for photos. St. Francis Prep, Fresh Meadows, defeated Archbishop Molloy H.S., Briarwood, 11-4.
