Milestone Reached

Glenn Braica, graduate of Bishop Ford H.S., Park Slope, and the head men’s basketball coach at St. Francis College, Brooklyn Heights, recorded his 150th career victory on Feb. 11. The Terriers took down St. Francis University, Loretto, Pa., 70-67.


Joe Panik, former standout infielder at St. John’s University, Jamaica, signed a minor-league contract with the Toronto Blue Jays, which includes an invite to the team’s spring training. The 30-year-old Yonkers, N.Y., native spent parts of his first six professional baseball seasons with the San Francisco Giants and then had a 39-game stretch for the New York Mets in 2019.


CYO Regional Masses

The Catholic Youth Organization (CYO) of Brooklyn and Queens held special welcome back Masses throughout the diocese on Feb. 13. Masses were celebrated at St. Francis de Sales, Belle Harbor; Our Lady of Angels, Bay Ridge; St. Thomas Aquinas, Flatlands; Holy Child Jesus, Richmond Hill; Our Lady of Hope, Middle Village; St. Sebastian, Woodside; St. Mel, Flushing; and American Martyrs, Bayside.
