Milestones and Honors for Christ the King Hoops

The Christ the King H.S., Middle Village, boys’ and girls’ basketball program recently experienced several milestones and special honors.

First on Feb. 3, longtime head girls’ coach Bob Mackey recorded his 500th career victory with a win over rival Archbishop Molloy H.S., Briarwood. Mackey has guided the Lady Royals for more than two decades.

Then for Alumni Day on Feb. 5, former Royals player and current assistant coach Nick Sanchez had his No. 32 jersey retired – becoming the first basketball alum to receive the honor.

And finally on Feb. 6, Lady Royals senior Saniyah Glenn reached the 1,000-career-point plateau during the GCHSAA’s Think Pink weekend game. Glenn is a two-time Tablet All-Star who has committed to Harvard University.
