>> Crusader Back with Brooklyn Cyclones

Holy Cross H.S., Flushing, product Jaylen Palmer is back this season with the Brooklyn Cyclones, the High-A affiliate of the New York Mets. A shortstop for the Knights in high school, Palmer spent most of last year playing the outfield for the Cyclones. In 102 games in 2022, he led the Cyclones in home runs with nine and stolen bases with 22 while also contributing 35 RBIs. The Cyclones opened their season on April 7.


>> Final Four for Larrañaga

In the recent men’s basketball NCAA Tournament, the University of Miami, Fla., reached the Final Four for the first time. The team’s head coach, Jim Larrañaga, is a product of Archbishop Molloy H.S., Briarwood, where he played basketball for the late great Jack Curran. This was Larrañaga’s second Final Four appearance as a coach. In 2006, he guided George Mason University, Fairfax, Va., to its first-ever Final Four berth.
