Speak Well of Vito Lopez

Dear Editor: One of Brooklyn’s storied political leaders passed away the evening of Nov. 9.

Recalling Shakespeare’s take on the interment of good at burial, I hope we will remember that Assemblyman Vito Lopez successfully defended the Catholic Church, as well as other non-government institutions, from the political assault of Assembly powerhouse Deborah Glick and Marge Markey in 2009.

Further, Vito’s effective concern for affordable housing pretty well guarantees a view of Heaven’s “mansions” as well.

As the Year of Mercy beckons, let all of good will wish Assemblyman Lopez Godspeed!

TOM PHILLIPS
