Sister Vivina

Sister Vivina Gracia Sepulveda, C.S.J., a Sister of St. Joseph, Brentwood, L.I., for 69 years, died June 23.

She entered the congregation in 1949 from La Candelaria parish in Lajas, Puerto Rico.  She went on to earn her bachelor’s degree in Spanish from the Pontifical University of Puerto Rico and a master’s degree in administration and supervision from the University of Puerto Rico.

Her ministries included: St. Anne, Brentwood, 1951-52; Colegio San Jose, San German, Puerto Rico, 1952-59; Colegio Santa Teresita, Ponce, Puerto Rico, 1959-60; Academia San Jorge, Santurce, Puerto Rico, 1960-63; Academia San Ignacio, Rio Piedras, Puerto Rico, 1963-70 and 1980-83; Academia Maria Reina, Rio Piedras, 1970-71; Academia Santa Monica, Santurce, 1971-74 and 1974-80; and Catholic University of Puerto Rico, Ponce, 1983-92.

She also served as superintendent of Catholic Schools for the Diocese of Mayaguez, Puerto Rico, before retiring to Brentwood.

A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at St. Joseph Renewal Center Chapel, Brentwood, June 26. Burial followed in Calvary Cemetery.
