Sister Rose Marie Mastellon, R.G.S.

Sister Rose Marie MastellonSister Rose Marie Mastellon, R.G.S., 96, a Sister of the Good Shepherd for 75 years, died at Mary Manning Walsh Healthcare Facility, Manhattan, Feb. 8.

Born and raised in Brooklyn, she attended St. Agnes School, Cobble Hill, and St. Joseph’s H.S. in Downtown Brooklyn, before entering the community in 1939 in Peekskill, N.Y. She professed her vows in 1941.

She served many years as a business teacher and school principal in New Jersey, upstate New York and Manhattan – all ministries sponsored by the New York Province of her congregation.

She served as business instructor at Grace Institute, Manhattan, 1982- 94, when she retired to her local Good Shepherd Community in Manhattan.

In 2005, she moved to Mary Manning Walsh Healthcare Facility where she remained until her death.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held at Mary Manning Walsh on Feb. 13. Burial followed at Mt. Florence Cemetery, Peekskill.
