Sister Mary Francis Madaio, O.S.F., a native of Brooklyn who was 93 years old, died Dec. 31 in Assisi House, Aston, Pa.
Born as Genevieve Madaio, she was a native of St. Francis of Paola parish, Williamsburg, and a graduate of Eastern District H.S.
In 1945, she entered the Franciscan Sisters of Ringwood.
She ministered for 38 years in the Diocese of Paterson, where she taught school, was administrator of the CCD program, and did social work. She also taught for 19 years in the Archdiocese of Newark.
She taught in the Diocese of Brooklyn, at St. Francis Paola School and Holy Family School, and she taught CCD and did social work at St. Blaise parish.
