Sister Mary

Sister Mary Elizabeth Rogers, C.S.J., formerly Sister Mary Theodora, a Sister of St. Joseph, Brentwood, for 75 years, died March 11.

She received her bachelor’s degree in Italian and English from Manhattan College.

She received her master’s degree in Theology from Providence and she later received a master’s degree in Theology/Spirituality from University of San Francisco.

Sister Mary taught at St. Michael’s, Sunset Park, 1946–49; Holy Name of Mary, Valley Stream, 1949–52; Ascension, Elmhurst, 1952–55; St. Francis de Sales, Belle Harbor, 1955-59; Bishop McDonnell H.S., Brooklyn, 1959–67; St. Elizabeth Center, South Huntington, 1967–83; Bergamo Center, Dayton Ohio, 1983–91; SS. Peter and Paul, Williamsburg, 1991–94; and she served as directors of the Sisters  Initial Formation, 1994–2000.

A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated in Maria Regina Chapel, March 15. Burial followed in Calvary Cemetery, Brentwood.
