Sister Maria Klosterman, S.F.P., a Franciscan Sister of the Poor for 57 years, died in St. Clare Convent Chapel in Cincinnati, Ohio, March 9. She was 75.

A native of Celina, Ohio, she served locally as a pastoral associate at Assumption parish, Brooklyn Heights.

Other assignments included serving the poor as a nurse at Catholic hospitals in Cincinnati and Dayton, Ohio, and in Covington, Kentucky. She partnered as a case manager with Brother Robert Reinke, C.F.P., founder of F+A+I+T+H Services, a pioneer outreach to persons with AIDS in Hoboken, N.J. She also served a term in leadership as congregational councilor.

She is survived by her brothers Earl, Vic, Luke, Gary and Tom, and sisters Judy Rentz and Connie Vail.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held in St. Clare Convent Chapel March 14. Interment followed in the convent cemetery.

A memorial Mass will be celebrated at Assumption parish in Brooklyn on April 11 at 11 a.m.
