Sister Germaine Campbell, O.S.U.

Sister Germaine Campbell, O.S.U., a member of the Ursuline Sisters of Tildonk for 75 years, died on May 17. She was 93.

She grew up mostly in Bellerose and entered the convent in 1944. She professed her final vows in 1950.

Locally, Sister Germaine taught at Our Lady of Grace, Howard Beach, and served as recreational coordinator for United Cerebral Palsy of Queens. She also taught at schools in Connecticut and worked at a senior center and retreat house on Long Island.

She is survived by her brother and sister- in-law, Dick and Theresa Campbell, and by many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.

Her funeral Mass was celebrated on May 20 at Our Lady of the Snow Church in Blue Point, L.I., followed by burial at the Ursuline Sisters’ cemetery in Blue Point. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at Maria Regina Residence, Brentwood, L.I. on Aug. 28.
