Priest from Astoria Marks 50 Years as Atonement Friar

Father Gerald DiGiralamo, S.A., a native of Astoria, celebrated his golden jubilee at Graymoor in Garrison, N.Y., on Saturday, June 28, marking 50 years since he entered the Franciscan Friars of the Atonement. Currently, he is serving in the sacramental ministry at Chapel of Our Savior, Brockton, Mass. 

Ordained in 1981, he has served as a parochial vicar in Windsor, Ontario; Sterling, Va.; Port Jefferson, L.I.; and Central Islip, L.I. He also served as director of the Graymoor Retreat Center in Garrison and as the guardian of Chapel of Our Savior, Brockton.

He is a graduate of St. John’s Seminary in Boston and holds a master’s degree in counseling from Emmanuel College, Boston, and a master’s in divinity.
