Paul O’Dwyer Memorial Award

Eileen Flannelly Mackell is receiving the Paul O’Dwyer Memorial Award. She is the vice president of the Central Royalty Container Collection Fund of the International Longshoremen’s Association and the U.S. Maritime Alliance. She is responsible for the centralized collection of royalty funds from both the eastern and gulf ports of the U.S.

She previously served the City of New York as the commissioner of the New York City Department of Records and Information Services (Records). Before that, she was the deputy commissioner of records and an assistant commissioner.

Additionally, having served in various roles for more than 13 years, she takes great pride in her current position as president of the Irish Institute of New York City, a non-profit organization dedicated to cultural and philanthropic endeavors. As president, she hopes to bring more awareness to the mission of the institute and support to a larger audience within the Irish community.

Having spent her lifetime traveling between Ireland and New York, she possesses a deep passion for – and holds close ties to – her family and friends, Ireland and the country she considers her “other” home.

She is the daughter of prominent Mayo man and Irish Radio’s Adrian Flannelly, and Limerick native Mary Flannelly. Her husband was the late Dr. Thomas J. Mackell, Jr.
