Pastoral Institute Offers Foundations for Ministry

The Pastoral Institute will be offering its 10-week, 20-hour Foundations for Ministry Program in four languages beginning in January in various host sites throughout the Diocese of Brooklyn.

This program is designed for men and women who are discerning participation in the three-year Lay Ministry Program or who desire a basic update in theology for ministry. It is being offered in English, Haitian Creole, Mandarin and Spanish.

The Pastoral Institute of the Diocesan School of Evangelization is committed to the formation of the baptized faithful for various lay leadership roles in the parishes.

The Foundation program covers topics such as theology as a field of study, the emerging role of the laity, Jesus: His mission, His message, His ministry, and moral theology. Persons who successfully complete the program receive a certificate of completion and may be eligible to receive ongoing or enrichment formation credits for the Living and Leading by Faith Catechist Formation Program.

Interested persons may register through the School of Evangelization’s online registration available at http://www.bqonlineformation.org.

Members of parish councils, parish pastoral planning committees, or those who are already in parish ministry would benefit from this program.

Space is limited so early registration is encouraged.
