Pastor Placed on Leave

The Diocese of Brooklyn has placed Father Charles Oduro, pastor of St. Catherine of Genoa parish, Flatbush, on administrative leave due to an allegation of sexual harassment against him. An adult female employee of the parish made the complaint, which is currently under investigation.

The Diocese of Brooklyn was first notified of the employee’s allegation through her attorney. The woman was placed on paid administrative leave for her protection. The diocese has notified the NYPD.

Msgr. Paul Jervis has been appointed temporary administrator of the parish, pending final resolution of this matter. In addition, Father Anselums Mawusi will be residing in the rectory and will assist in the pastoral care of the parish.

The Diocese of Brooklyn has zero tolerance for sexual harassment, according to a spokesperson, and takes this matter very seriously.
