Back to School 2015

OL Guadalupe Creates Futures

Founded to serve the children of Dyker Heights, Our Lady of Guadalupe (OLG) School includes the typical kindergarten through eighth grade enrollment, but also has an outstanding pre-school program for 3- and 4-year-old children.

Technology

Today’s students work in an environment with wireless Internet, encouraging the use of state-of-the-art laptops and iPads, combined with multimedia instruction using educational tools such as Mathletics, BrainPOP, Education City and Learn360.

A robust, secure network allows for 1:1 BYOD use for students in grades 4-8, and the introduction of 3D printing adds another exciting dimension to learning.

Parents can follow grades and assignments online and receive alerts about school closings and special events.

OLG students have been recognized for their success in Math Bees, art competitions, poetry submissions and essay contests. Students from Pre-K through grade eight using the Latin and Greek Roots Challenge have already improved their Language Arts skills by over 150 percent, and the results are clear in NYS and Terra Nova testing.

Catholic Leadership and Service

Catholic identity at OLG is key. Students prepare First Friday and special liturgies, and learn to serve others through participation in the Mission Club and gift-giving.

Leadership is joined to service in student council and the safety patrol, or by membership in AV, computer and lab assistant programs.

Members of the two student choral groups and the Tone Chime Choir perform at local community events and parish celebrations.

Graduating students publish their own yearbook annually.

Graduates are awarded full and partial scholarships to high school, while earning recognition as published writers, artists, athletes and scholars.

A long list of successful alumni includes physicians, attorneys, educators and business people.

Every student at OLG is encouraged to reach his or her potential in an atmosphere that encourages life-long learning.
