Obituary: Father William Davin, C.P.

Obit-DavinwebFather William Davin, C.P., a Passionist priest for 66 years, died March 28 at New York Hospital Queens, Flushing. He was 85.

A native of Pittsburgh, he preached parish missions and retreats while based in Toronto; served as a hospital chaplain and director of pastoral care in Baltimore; was a parish priest in Scranton, Pa., Baltimore and West Virginia; and worked among the people associated with St. Paul’s Monastery, Pittsburgh.

He moved to the Passionists’ Monastery, Jamaica Estates, in 2013.

He was ordained to the priesthood by Bishop Cuthbert O’Gara, C.P., on April 28, 1956 at St. Michael Monastery, Union City, N.J.
