To replace Bob Atanasio, St. Saviour H.S., Park Slope, hired Katherine Comerford, a former professional basketball player in Sweden, Italy, Taiwan and Taipei and an All-American at Georgetown University, Washington, D.C.

She received her master’s in physical education from Hofstra University, Hempstead, L.I., in May, 2011. She coached volleyball, basketball and lacrosse at Long Beach Catholic H.S., L.I., the past three years. She is in her fifth season coaching Amateur Athletic Union basketball and trains athletes at Fundamental Sports Training, Westbury, L.I.

“My passion for sports and athletics is something that has been ingrained in me throughout my entire life,” she said. “I cannot wait to share my knowledge and experience with the girls. I have a lot to teach them about athletics and the impact it can have on their lives.”
