Former Archbishop Molloy H.S., Briarwood, standout and New York Mets’ outfielder Mike Baxter was claimed on waivers by the Los Angeles Dodgers.

The Whitestone native, who grew up attending St. Luke’s parish, spent part of three seasons with the Mets. He’ll forever be remembered in Mets’ lore for making a no-hitter saving catch on June 1, 2012, when Johan Santana pitched the first no-hitter in Mets’ history.
