Though he did not receive the call from the National Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown, N.Y., this past January, devout Catholic catcher Mike Piazza will be enshrined in another Hall of Fame.

The New York Mets will induct Piazza into the team’s Hall of Fame on Sept. 29 at Citi Field, Flushing, with former teammates and Mets’ all-time greats looking on.

He will be the 27th member of the Mets’ Hall of Fame and will join the likes of Tom Seaver and Brooklyn’s own John Franco.

Piazza hit the most home runs of any catcher to ever play the game, and 220 of his 427 career home runs came in “Orange and Blue.”
