Altar servers from the Diocese of Brooklyn were honored during the annual Mass of Thanksgiving for Altar Servers and Vocations, celebrated on Aug. 28 at St. Finbar Church in Bath Beach.
The Mass offered thanks for the young people who serve faithfully at the altar and included prayers for vocations, asking God to continue calling young people and adults to lives of service in the Church.
Father Pedro Angucho, pastor of St. Finbar, celebrated the Mass. Father Christopher Bethge, vocations director for the Diocese of Brooklyn, concelebrated.
There were 165 altar servers in attendance, Father Angucho said.
The gathering also served as a prayerful show of support for altar servers and for all those discerning a vocation.
